DEEP Learning Initiative The Developing English Education Professionals’ (DEEP) Learning Initiative brings urban English teachers together within a clinically-rich and residential space to learn and share ideas around: methods for teaching literacy to urban adolescents, methods for teaching English language learners, technology-rich methods to support continuing professional development, training in creative and critical classroom assessments, culturally-relevant teaching and more. DEEP Learning offers an ecological model for supporting teacher development and a social justice framework for understanding student learning and the function of schools.
